Phillip R. Thompson, 85, LaGrange, died Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his residence.
He was born April 2, 1928, in Topeka, to Irmin L. and Lettie (Neff) Thompson.
Living all his life in LaGrange County, he was a farmer and retired in 1993 after 45 years with Farmers State Bank in LaGrange, where he was the senior executive vice president and served on the board of directors for many years. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, rifle club, the NRA, and was involved with the LaGrange County 4-H Horse and Pony Club.
He was married October 15, 1949, in Topeka, to Deborah A. Searle. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Amy and Steven McKowen, Wolcottville, and Kathleen Clinton, LaGrange; one son, Matthew T. Thompson, LaGrange; five grandchildren, Keith Thompson, Justin (Morgan) Thompson, Jami Sites, Joshua Clinton, and Conner McKowen; two great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Caitlyn Sites; and one sister, Jeanette Sterling, Ft. Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wayne L. and Robert B. Thompson.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at First United Methodist Church in LaGrange with Reverend Chris Danielson officiating.
Burial with military graveside services conducted by LaGrange American Legions Post 215 will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
