Paul Miller

 

Paul Dean Miller, 77, White Pigeon, Mich., formerly of Shipshewana, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Maples at Waterford Crossing in Goshen.

    He was born August 7, 1935, in LaGrange, to Orva and Ellen (Troyer) Miller.

    He worked 39½ years for Ross Labs in Sturgis, Mich., working in several departments including the warehouse, the can plant and shipping. He was an avid stock car racing fan and New Paris Speedway will be holding a Paul Miller Memorial Race in his honor during the 2013 race season. He was a member of Maple Grove Church in Topeka.

    He was married June 28, 1970, at the Methodist Church in Shipshewana, to Claudia McElmurry. She survives.

    Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Steve) Ewing, Byron Center, Mich., and Shawna (Marv) Schmucker, Middlebury; two sons, Loren (Denise) Miller, White Pigeon, Mich., and Shane (Nichole) Miller, Goshen; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Jenni) Ewing, Jen (Barry) Veltman, Conor Schmucker, Max Schmucker, Anthony Miller, Malerie (Ron) Reed, McClain Miller, and Clay Miller; three great-grandchildren, Brynn Ewing, Cody Veltman, and Wyatt Reed; one sister, Marilyn (Elwyn) Frain, Shipshewana; two brothers, James (Shirley) Miller, Shipshewana, and Alfred (Rosie) Miller, Shipshewana; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Miller, LaGrange, and Pat Miller, Smyrna, Del.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael Miller, three brothers, Sam, Larry and Richard Miller, and one sister, Romaine Hostetler.

    Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, at Maple Grove Church in Topeka.

    Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, at Maple Grove Church in Topeka with Pastor Barry St. Clair officiating.

    Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.

    Memorials may be directed to the family for a planned memorial gift to The Maples or to Harbor Light Hospice.
