County commissioners approved the purchase of a new tractor for use in maintaining county parks at Monday’s meeting. The tractor will replace a 30-year-old model that has served it’s time, according to Mike Metz, parks department superintendent.
The John Deere tractor will come from Greenmark Equipment of LaGrange at a cost of $32,306 with trade-in of the old tractor. This was the low bid received.
Metz remarked that the tractor being replaced was one of the first purchases made after he became involved with the parks department.
Commissioner Garry Heller remarked that since 1985 the county has received $2,900,000 in grant money for the parks department under Metz’s tenure as head of the department. “Mike, you are to be commended for your efforts on behalf of the parks department and the people of LaGrange County,” Heller said.
