One killed in accident on SR 120 west of Howe One

One person was killed in an accident involving two semis and a pickup on SR 120 west of Howe.

According to the police report, a semi tractor-trailer driven by Donald Siders, 52, of Mishawaka, Ind., was traveling east on SR 120 just west of CR 300W shortly after 7 a.m. on November 22 when Siders lost control due to the icy road. His semi crossed the centerline and hit a semi driven by Lee Zolman, 69, of LaGrange that was traveling west on SR 120. The semis hit head-on and Zolman’s semi caught fire. A Chevy pickup driven by Michael Eicher, 19, of Fresno, Ohio, was traveling behind Siders’ semi and was unable to avoid hitting the trailer.

Eicher and a passenger in his pickup attempted to rescue Zolman from his semi but were unsuccessful.

Zolman died at the scene. Siders complained of pain to his left leg and was taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital. Eicher and his passenger were not injured.
