Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on March 6 south of Shipshewana.
According to the police report, a vehicle driven by Mikayla Rex, 18, of CR 400S was traveling east on CR 200S when it approached the intersection with SR 5. Rex’s vehicle then proceeded into the intersection and collided with a vehicle driven by James V. Troyer, 21, of Ligonier. The momentum made both vehicles go off the northeast side of the road and into a fence.
Rex sustained a broken hip and complained of pain at the scene. A passenger in her vehicle, Jaid Rex, 16, also of CR 400S, sustained internal injuries.
The police report stated that Rex’s view may have been obstructed by a snowpile on the southwest corner of the intersection.
The accident is still under investigation.
