November LaGrange County Parks report


All LaGrange County offices are closed November 11, Veterans Day, and November 27-28, Thanksgiving.

Maple Wood Nature Center is closed for Thanksgiving, November 27-30.

Quilt Classes…

Winter dates for quilt classes are November 11, November 15.

Breakfast with the Birds…

Breakfast with the Birds is for anyone who is free one Wednesday morning of each month. The program starts with coffee and doughnuts. Then a talk or discussion is offered by the naturalist. Bring your binoculars and enjoy a hike in the woods afterward. Recommended donation is $1.00.  The November program is on Wednesday, November 19, at 8:30 a.m.

Whitetail Venison

Whitetail Deer is the most popular game animal in North America and the largest in Indiana. We are sharing tips on bringing wild venison to the table. We will discuss a little on processing and then taste some recipes.

Folk jam…

Folk Music Jam Sessions are hosted the fourth Sunday of each month. Jams are mostly folk, country and bluegrass music with other styles thrown in from time to time.

This month’s jam is Sunday, November 23, 1:30-5:00 p.m.

Christmas in the Maple Woods…

Christmas in the MapleWoods is Saturday, December 6, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Roadside wildflowers, grape vine, and dried herbs will be provided for making your own natural ornament, wreath or arrangements. Bring a container to place your centerpiece in and bring a spare for someone else to use. Take some decorations home and make some for MapleWood’s tree. Recommended donation for craft makers is $1.00 per family.

The share-a-snack table will be set with steaming cider and hot chocolate. Bring samples of a favorite holiday snack and its recipe to share.
