Northwood boys down Westview

NorthWood knocked Westview from the ranks of the unbeatens in varsity boys basketball last Thursday in Nappanee.

Powered by 18-point efforts from Zach Zurcher and Jonathan Wilkinson, the Panthers trimmed the Warriors, 63-54. It was the first loss in four outings for coach Rob Yoder’s crew.

The host Panthers used an 8-2 spurt at the end of the first half to take a 33-28 lead at the intermission. NorthWood increased its margin to eight (46-38) by the end of the third quarter.

Zurcher netted eight of his 18 markers in the final period, with six of those coming from the foul stripe. Tommy Klem contributed a dozen points to the Panther cause, going 5-5 from the field with a pair of triples.

The play of Chandler Aspy was a bright spot for the Warriors, who shot a season-low, 34-percent (20-58) from the floor. The 6-3 sophomore canned 10-11 of his field goal tries and went 6-10 from the charity line for a career-high 26 points.
