Northwood boys defeat Westview

 

NorthWood used a strong second-half performance to subdue Westview, 64-52 in a non-conference varsity boys basketball contest held last Thursday evening in Emma.

Leading by a point (23-22) at halftime, the Panthers connected on seven of their first eight shots in the third period. The hot start triggered a 24-13 run which boosted NorthWood’s advantage to 12 (47-35).

The Panthers secured their third win in as many outings when they equaled Westview’s 17-point output in the fourth quarter.

Zach Zurcher paced a quartet of NorthWood players in double figures with 15 points. Jonathan Wilkinson finished with 14 markers, Will Stueve notched 12 tallies and Kyle McCoy swished 10.

Wilkinson led the Panthers to a 31-21 advantage on the boards by grabbing eight rebounds. Braxton Linville dished out seven assists.

Jordyn Bontrager turned in another fine performance for the 2-2 Warriors, scoring 25 points, snaring seven rebounds, dealing four assists and making two steals. Chandler Aspy chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.
