Northridge boys slip past Westview in soccer match



A pair of penalty-shot goals lifted Northridge past Westview, 2-1 in varsity boys soccer play Saturday night in Emma.

Grant Legault booted in the first Raider goal in the 25th minute of the first half after he was fouled in the penalty zone. The marker erased a 1-0 Warrior lead which came about on a Nic Raber goal in the 10th minute. Micah Hunsberger garnered an assist on Raber’s gem.

The score remained tied until the 50th minute, when a Raider was illegally obstructed by a Warrior defender inside the penalty area. Josh Kenny’s kick found the back of the net to give the visitors the one-goal advantage they would protect the rest of the match.

Northridge held a 7-2 shot edge and a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks. Warrior keeper Tarrin Beachy was credited with five saves.

The loss dropped Westview to 7-3-1.
