It was a rough day for the Lakeland varsity volleyball squad at the North Miami Tournament Saturday, as the Lady Lakers lost each of their four contests.
Northwestern dealt Lakeland its first setback of the tourney, 25-18, 25-16. Ashtin Kaminer and Nikki Chavez-Fearnow each had three kills for the Lady Lakers. Nicole McKibben totaled 12 service points with three aces, Madison Campbell 13 digs and Elaine Denney five assists.
Lakeland fell to Northfield, 25-11, 25-9 in its second match. Chavez-Fearnow led in kills with three, followed by Denney, Abi Thompson and Rebecca Wooster with two apiece. McKibben had six assists.
The Lady Lakers battled Western tough in their third match of the day before falling, 25-23, 25-22. Chavez-Fearnow collected five kills and eight points, Wooster four kills, Denney three kills and three assists, McKibben eight assists and Campbell eight digs.
In their final match, the Lady Lakers were topped by Wabash, 25-13, 25-17. Chavez-Fearnow paced the attack with six kills, Denney and McKibben both chalked up four assists, Thompson served five points with two aces, and Campbell made 10 digs.
The four setbacks dropped Lakeland to 0-6.
