Dean Weir, 50, was appointed the new street department supervisor for the Town of LaGrange at Tuesday’s town board meeting. He will replace Curly McBride, who was fired for failure to adhere to a 2004 directive of the town board earlier this summer.
Weir has been a town reserve police officer for 11 years and prior to that he was a reserve LaGrange County officer for 15½ years. He is a college graduate who has most recently been working in engineering for Utilimaster in Bristol, Ind. Previously he worked in the same capacity for Morgan-Olsen in Sturgis, Mich.
Weir, who moved to LaGrange when he was 23, will start work Monday, Sept. 17. He will be supervising three employees at the street department.
