The LaGrange Farm Credit Mid-America will be getting a new building, trading its older, crowded building with limited parking for a new one out at the corner of US 20 and CR 250W.
A groundbreaking was held last Friday for the new office, which will house its staff of 12 full-time employees, who are currently a little cramped at the Union St. office in LaGrange.
The office has grown substantially since starting its local office in the 1930s. Farm Credit moved into the current location in 1954 with only three staff members. “It has grown in leaps and bounds,” noted Jim Durr, vice president of the Northeast Indiana region for Farm Credit.
Farm Credit provides financial services to farmers and residents in the county, including loans, crop insurance and leases. The office has grown to having over $245 million in assets.
