There will be a new bridge on CR 600W across the Fawn River later this summer. The bid for the new structure was awarded at the Monday commissioners meeting to Northern Indiana Construction of Mishawaka.
There were two bids for the project: Northern Indiana Construction at $192,806.44 and Pioneer and Associates of Albion at $229,508.50. On the recommendation of Mike Oberfeld, a representative of USI Engineering, commissioners awarded the bid to Northern Indiana Construction.
The engineer’s estimate for the bridge was $221,521.
According to Jeff Brill, county highway superintendent, construction will start in mid-June after school is out for the summer.
Commissioners also approved the extension of a grant for the LaGrange Communities Youth Centers (LCYC) from March 31 until June 30, 2014.
