National Able Network Connects Low Income Seniors to Community Jobs

National Able Network provides training and employment opportunities for low-income seniors throughout the state of Indiana. These services are funded by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) through the U.S. Department of Labor Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). Through SCSEP, National Able Network offers paid training and work experience opportunities for economically disadvantaged individuals age 55 and older, while facilitating transitions of job-ready participants into unsubsidized employment in both public and private sectors. Last year, National Able Network helped connect more than 430 low-income Hoosier seniors to subsidized employment and volunteer opportunities throughout the state. In total, they contributed more than 240,000 hours of community-based work and service.

National Able Network partners with local non-profit and government agencies to connect older workers to productive part-time employment in community service activities, which helps to increase worker skills while providing crucial benefits to the community. The agency maintains a network of more than 100 such partnerships with host agencies to provide employment and service opportunities to older workers and volunteers across the state of Indiana.

National Able Network is a leading 501(c)3 nonprofit workforce development agency that provides services to more than 125,000 individuals in need across the nation. The agency was founded in 1977 through a grant from The Chicago Community Trust, and works to prepare today’s communities to meet tomorrow’s challenges by bringing together businesses and qualified job seekers of all ages, income, and employment levels. National Able Network provides universal job readiness training and industry-specific training, employment placement programs, subsidized employment training programs, dedicated services for veterans and for older workers, and direct staffing services.
