Nathan Lumbard gets four years in federal prison

Former Howe resident Nathan Lumbard, 29, was sentenced last week to four years in federal prison.

Lumbard’s sentence also included three years of supervised release and fines totaling $30,000.

Lumbard was caught in May 2011 in Myanmar and was extradited to the U.S. shortly after that. He had been on the run from authorities since 2009, when he fled from Sturgis, Mich., as officers attempted to serve a warrant for his arrest.

Lumbard was wanted on charges of arson and breaking and entering connected to a fire that destroyed Welch’s Steak and Ribs in Sturgis, Mich. Lumbard was also facing charges of assault and theft in LaGrange County.

Following Lumbard reportedly faked his suicide in Missouri and then fled the country with a fake ID and passport.
