County commissioners decided to rescind a motion passed earlier that would have prohibited parking on CR 490N that leads to Pigeon Lake. This action will help to keep the public access open.
Kirk Perkins of the Stroh area was reappointed to the Economic Development Commission for a four-year term that will run from Feb. 1, 2014 to Jan. 31, 2018. This commission meets only when called and is utilized when a commercial firm that qualifies is seeking to borrow tax exempt money through a bond issue.
An Oct. 7 contract with the Ark Animal Sanctuary was reapproved. The contract calls for a payment of $25,000 for the last quarter of 2013 and $28,750 each quarter of 2014.
Arron Knisley announced that a grant in the amount of $5,179.77 has been received from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. This grant comes through the Local Emergency Management Agency and is awarded on a competitive basis each year. Money from the grant will be used for equipment at the county communications (E-911) center.
Information Technology Director Bob Murphy asked commissioners for permission to purchase a printer for use in the circuit court. Judge J. Scott VanDerbeck has the $694 available in his 2013 budget and commissioners approved the request.
