Monroe Starrett

Monroe Starrett, 68, LaGrange, formerly of Lejunior, Ky., died Sunday, December 8, 2013.

    He was born April 14, 1945 in Gatliff, Ky., to Mike and Dessie Horner Starrett.

    Living most of his life in Harlan County, Ky., he was a former diesel mechanic for Lawson Construction and believed in the Pentecostal faith.

    Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Judy Starrett, East Bernstadt, Ky., Ricky and Tammy Starrett, LaGrange, and James and Becky Starrett, LaGrange; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Arzella Gee, Norwood, Ohio, and Brenda and Larry Hunter, Norwood, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, Hershel and Melissa Starrett, Lejunior, KY; a daughter-in-law, Ginger Starrett, Frankfort, Ky.; his former wife and mother of his children who remained his friend and caregiver, Linda Baker, LaGrange; and four special friends he met while living in LaGrange.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Mike Starrett, one sister, Myrlene Bennett, two brothers, Ronald and Lonnie Starrett, and special friend Beulah Lawan Bush.

    Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, December 12, at Evarts Funeral Home in Kentucky.

    Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 13, at Evarts Funeral Home in Kentucky with the Reverend Bruce Helton, Reverend James Sanders and Reverend Arnold Sanders officiating.

    Burial will be in Evarts Memorial Gardens in Kentucky.
