The Pigeon RiverFest is returning again this year, with a full day of events planned for Saturday, Sept. 8.
The Mongo United Methodist Church will host a breakfast starting at 7 a.m. and continuing until 11 a.m.
The Mongo Fire Department has health screenings planned for 8-10 a.m.
Activities get going at 10:30 a.m., with a variety of contests. Competitors can get in the watermelon eating and seed spitting contest as well as the egg toss, bubble blowing contest, Chubby Bunny and hula hoop contest.
A highlight each year at the Pigeon RiverFest is the Boondock Queen Pageant, which starts at 11 a.m., with the queen crowned at 1 p.m.
The Prairie Heights Panther Power Dance Team will perform at noon, followed by Kayla Smith at 12:30 p.m.
The annual blessing of the bikes will also be at 12:30 p.m.
Kenny Lone Eagle will be performing on the main stage at 1 p.m.
The parade kicks off at 2 p.m., with lineup at 1 p.m. in the Weiss Trucking lot.
Magician and balloon artist Ken will be at the festival at 2:30 p.m.
At 3 p.m., the garden tractor pull starts off, along with a cake walk and the cornhole tournament.
Kids will have a blast during the fireman’s foam treasure hunt, which takes place at 3:30 p.m.
And it will be family against family in the Family Tug-of-War at 4:30 p.m. The skillet toss competition is also at 4:30 p.m.
Things wrap up at 5 p.m. with the Duck Race on the Mighty Pigeon.
