Milford Elementary gets put to good use

At Monday’s Prairie Heights School Board Meeting the schools newly underused school, Milford Elementary, was the main topic on everyone’s mind. The Northeast Indiana School Co-op is now going to be using Milford for their Bright Horizons program which is presently housed in Kendallville. Prairie Heights would continue to maintain the building during the five-year lease agreement.

The program is set to be opened from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2017. Superintendent Alan Middleton says the lease has a payment of $50,000 each year and a one year notice is in place in case either side wants to get out of the agreement. Middleton says it's a good agreement for both sides of the story.

Other information at the meeting was the recognition of Mike Smith as the Varsity Football Coach. Smith says he looks to find other employment but will finish his year as the APEX teacher. Middleton also approved several new higherings: Lauren Howdyshell (PHES fulltime Aide), Angela Anderson (PHES Part-time Aide), and Fannie Garcia (PHES Aide).
