Michael Frutig

Michael L. Frutig, born April 28, 1946, passed away at home in Fort Wayne IN on March 17, 2014. He endured a brief battle with cancer, always maintaining a positive attitude. When asked how he was doing his reply was anything from "I'm terminal just like all of us" to "I'm feeling great, better than ever." God had given him a great peace about where he was going to spend eternity. On to enjoy the fruit of the true vine.

    Michael was a 1964 graduate of Brighton Ind. High School. He chose a career in tool and Die making, working for General Motors as Journeyman, and retiring from Johnson Controls. His career moved forward as he went into the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. He served in such places as Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm, Korea, Germany, and elsewhere. He retired after 21 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer CW3. Michael was a member and former officer of American Legion Post 215 in LaGrange, IN., member of VFW Post 857 and Eagles Lodge 3512 in Fort Wayne, Ind. The love and passion of Mike’s life was his family. He also making new friends and keeping in touch with old ones. He enjoyed gardening, was and avid reader studying history, especially the Founding Fathers.

    Survived by wife Sharon (Huber) Frutig; stepson Donivon Huber, mother Marion Frutig, former wife Karen Frutig, children Heidi Blesch, Chris Frutig, Eric Frutig, and Phillip Frutig, grandchildren Monika Mckenzie, Joyce Blesch, Lucy Blesch, Michael D. Blesch, Cierr Root, Eric Frutig, Olivia Frutig, Phillip Frutig, Julia Frutig, Charles Frutig, Elijah Rowden and Mya Karen Frutig, great-grandchildren Annalise Fry, Carment, Jade Fultz and Brylee Grace Frutig.

    Preceded in death by brother Phillip Frutig and father Phillip F. Frutig.

    Celebration of Life Memorial Service to be held at American Legion Post 215 in LaGrange, Ind., at 12:00 Noon this Saturday, March 22, 2014.
