Meth lab found after traffic stop

A traffic stop in LaGrange late Wednesday night led to the discovery of a meth lab in a residence south of LaGrange.

According to the LaGrange Police Department, an officer stopped a motorcycle driven by Nathan E. Shatto, 34, of LaGrange. While conducting the traffic stop, the officer reportedly found Shatto in possession of 1.3 grams of methamphetamine.

The stop led to a search warrant for Shatto’s residence at 1425 S. SR 9, where officers reportedly found three one-pot meth labs along with other chemicals, prescription drugs, and paraphernalia used in the manufacturing of meth.

Shatto was taken to the LaGrange County Jail on preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine Less Than 3 Grams, a Class D felony. No bond was entered as Shatto is reportedly on probation. A 15-day hold was placed on Shatto by the LaGrange County Probation Department.

Charges are pending and the case has been forwarded to the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
