The Second Annual United Indiana EMS Memorial Bike Ride is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, at the Parkview LaGrange EMS Building at 982 N. Townline Road in LaGrange.
The ride honors Indiana EMS professionals who have died in the line of duty. Among those being honored this year are LaGrange EMS medics Garry Hammer, Floyd Miller, Bryan Allred and Lora Halsey.
“The EMS Memorial Bike Ride provides a way of recognizing the role of these first responders who have given their lives in the service of others,” said George Hoffman, public information officer for United Indiana EMS. “This year’s ride will cover 200 miles from LaGrange to Indianapolis, ending at the Indiana Police and Fire Memorial in Indy. Among the riders are fellow EMS professionals, friends and family members of our honorees, as well as others who are riding in support of EMS.”
A brief memorial service for the honorees will be held at 8 a.m. at the Parkview LaGrange EMS Building, just prior to the launch of this year’s EMS Memorial Bike Ride.
