Melvin Schuman

Melvin F. Schuman, 99, South Milford, Ind., died Monday, November 25, 2013 at his residence.

    He was born September 30, 1914, in Larwill, Ind., to Henry and Flossie (Harris) Schuman.

    Moving from Columbia City, Ind., and Noble County, Ind., to LaGrange County in 1944, he retired from Monsanto in Ligonier, Ind., and had been a farmer.   He was a former member of the LaGrange County Farm Bureau.

    He was married March 15, 1934, in Plymouth, Ind., to Lucy I. Spear. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2005.

    Surviving are two daughters, Lois Daugherty, Huntington, Ind., and Janice Schuman, South Milford, Ind.; one son, Kay Leon Schuman, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Hal Schuman, Avilla, Ind.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Errol Schuman.

    Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, at Lakeview Cemetery in Kendallville, Ind., with Reverend Ken Weaver officiating.

    Memorials may be directed to Parkview Home Health and Hospice or South Milford United Methodist Church.
