Melvin J. Mast, 86, Shipshewana, died Friday, July 6, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange.
He was born December 20, 1925, in LaGrange, to Jacob H. and Emma (Christner) Mast.
He was a farmer and member of the Old Order Amish Church. He had a woodworking shop in Shipshewana and worked at Starcraft in Topeka for many years.
He was married November 25, 1948 to Fannie Graber. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mary Etta (Wilmer) Weaver, Shipshewana, and Katie Anna (David) Miller, Wellman, Iowa; three sons, Merlin (Joyce) Mast, Shipshewana, Wilbur Mast, New Palestine, and Alton Mast (special friend Linda Schrock), Wolcottville; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Miller, LaGrange, and Esther (LaMar) Miller, Michigan; and one brother, Ora J. Mast, Middlebury.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, one sister, Ella, and three brothers, Amos, Henry and Ervin Mast.
Visitation is all day Monday, July 9, at the Wilmer Weaver residence, 1645N 850W in Shipshewana.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the Harry Stutzman Jr. residence, 1360N 850W in Shipshewana, with Bishop Homer Bontrager and home ministers officiating.
Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.
