Max Sherck, 82, Middlebury, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at Courtyard Healthcare of Goshen.
He was born May 25, 1929, in Howe, to Trueman Lester and Viola May (Brandeberry) Sherck.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1947-1949 and was a member of the Middlebury Church of the Brethren, Middlebury American Legion Post 210, LaGrange Moose Lodge 1351, and the Elkhart D.A.V.
He was married May 3, 1973, in Middlebury, to Darlene M. Leatherman. She preceded him in death on February 7, 2008.
Surviving is one daughter, Barb Igney, Goshen; two stepdaughters, Darlette Meyer, Middlebury, and Robin (Ron) Anderson, Goshen; two sons, Mike (Linda) Sherck, Davidson, N.C., and Tom Sherck, Fresno, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Marion, Roy, C. Gene, and Jesse Sherck, and one granddaughter, Kelly J. Igney.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury.
Military graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Middlebury with Middlebury American Legion Post 210 officiating.
