Mary Anna Stump, 68, Avilla, Ind., died Friday, May 23, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
She was born June 29, 1945, in Wolf Lake, Ind., to Wilford J. and Mable (Hontz) Young.
Her formative years were spent in Wolf Lake and she graduated from Wolf Lake High School. She and her husband made their home in Howe for 10 years before moving to Avilla in 1978. Working for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, she retired in 2005 as the Waterloo, Ind., Postmaster. She was a member of Wolf Lake Baptist Church and Noble Nimble Thimbles, where she was a past president.
She was married October 12, 1963 to Thomas G. Stump.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Tom; two sons, Brad (Melinda) Stump of Garrett and Mark (Jenny) Stump of Avilla; four granddaughters, Marie, Erin, Amanda and Danielle Stump; and two brothers, Wilford Young of North Manchester and Max Young of Merriam.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wolf Lake Baptist Church, 1133 South Main Street with visitation after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. The burial will be in Thorn Cemetery, Ormas. Visitation will also be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
