Mary Jane Hoerl, 90, Howe, died Friday, January 13, 2012 at her residence.
She was born March 26, 1921, in LaGrange County, to Clyde H. and Etta (Fair) Shultz.
Living all her life in LaGrange County, she helped her husband John on their farm. Following John’s death, she was a dorm mother at Adrian College in Adrian, Mich., for several years and was a teller for Farmers State Bank in LaGrange and Howe for 26 years. She was a member of Lima Presbyterian Church in Howe.
She was married January 11, 1940 to Floyd John Gunthorp. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1966. She was married January 15, 1972 to Kenneth L. Hoerl. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1990.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann and Richard Kackmeister, Goshen, and Mary Kaye and Ray Schramm, Woodbridge, Calif.; one son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Pat Gunthorp, Austin, Texas; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Sue and George West, Orland; two stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Kenneth E. Hoerl, Burr Oak, Mich., and Lewis and Suzie Hoerl, LaGrange; eight granddaughters; 12 stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 20 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rachel E. Miller, Howe.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Long, Mabel Forker, and Florence Shultz.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 20, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 21, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange with Pastor Dave Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Howe.
