Mary Grondin-Kelly

Mary Ellen Grondin-Kelly, LaGrange, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 peacefully at Zionsville Meadows in Zionsville, Ind. Better known to all of her friends and family as Meg, lost a hard-fought and strenuous battle with Breast Cancer.

Meg was born September 21, 1959, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Mr. Everett and Mary Louise Grondin.

She graduated from Pennfield Senior High School, in Battle Creek Michigan. After graduation from high school Meg continued her education at Michigan State University, in East Lansing, Mich., where she received her B.A. in Graphic Art and Design, with a minor in Business Law.

Meg had a long career in Graphic Arts, beginning in her family’s business, Grondin Printing, and ending, all too soon, at Burr Oak Tool Inc., in Sturgis, Mich. She had an incredible eye for detail, an impeccable skill for organization, and an amazing internal drive for finding success in all aspects of her life.

On October 13, 1984, Meg married James Patrick Kelly of Holdrege, Neb., at St. Philip Catholic Church in Battle Creek, Mich. They recently celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary and have three children, Elizabeth (30), Benjamin (27), and William (22). Meg found great pride in her children and their accomplishments. She was able to instill values and a work ethic in each one of them that truly exemplifies her life, as a whole. Meg’s legacy has and always will live on through her children.

Besides her husband, Jim, and three kids, Meg is also survived by her parents, Everett and Mary Louise of Marshall Mich., her brothers Paul Grondin of St. Ignace, Mich., and Jeffrey of Scottsdale, Ariz. Meg was truly the glue that held, and will continue to hold her entire family together. She was an incredibly strong woman that instilled that sense of accomplishment and trust into every person for whom she came into contact. Her family would like for her to be remembered as a person who fought in all aspects of her life until the day she passed, regardless of the situation and or obstacle. She will always be a loving and supporting wife, a mother who expected the best from her children, and a caring daughter and sister for her parents and brothers.

A Funeral Mass was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marshall, Mich.
