Mark Bontrager

Mark J.  Bontrager, 87, Shipshewana, died Friday, November 3, 2017 at Goshen Hospital.

    He was born September 1, 1930, in Shipshewana, to Earley Clay and Delcie (Mishler) Bontrager.

    He was a farmer, livestock hauler, and bus driver. He was a member of Shore Mennonite Church, where he served as a song leader, a member of the Crusaders Quartet, and served on the REMC Board for 49 years.

    He was married September 27, 1953, in Shore Mennonite Church, to Clara Mishler. She survives.

    Also surviving are one daughter, Diane (Todd) Woodworth, Goshen; one son, John M. Bontrager, Shipshewana; and three grandchildren, Jesse Bontrager (fiancé Ariane Bergen) Woodworth, Denver, Colo., Luke (Brittany) Bontrager Woodworth, Goshen, and Clara E. Bontrager Woodworth, Goshen.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Hilda Haarer and Glenola Leinbach, and one brother, Marion Bontrager.

    Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, November 6, and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, at Shore Mennonite Church in Shipshewana.

    Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 7, at Shore Mennonite Church in Shipshewana with Pastor Carl Horner officiating.

    Burial will be at a later date in Bontrager Cemetery.

    Memorials may be directed to the Shipshewana Ministerial Association.
