Marian I. Cary, 95, Bronson, Mich., died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis, Mich.
She was born November 5, 1918, in Burr Oak, Mich., to Harold and Florence (Mock) Fennell.
Living in the Burr Oak and Bronson, Mich., area most of her life, she graduated at age 16 with the Class of 1935 from Brighton High School in Brighton, Ind. She retired from the Sturgis Hospital after several years of service in the admitting office. She also worked at Bronson Reel and Douglas Manufacturing, both in Bronson, Mich., and was also a nurse’s aide at the Sturgis Hospital. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, Mich.
Surviving are two sons, Alan (Lois) Cary, Bronson, Mich., and Bryan (Anne) Cary, Monte Vista, Colo.; two daughters, Kathleen (Earl) Hackett, Howe, and Helen (Richard) Wotta, Bronson, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Fennell, Escondido, Calif.; one sister, Beryl Sadewasser, Elkhart, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Phillip Cary, one daughter, Sharon L. Troyer, one great-grandson, Casey Starks, and two sisters, Doris Welker and Jean Fennell.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Hackman Family Funeral Homes Rosenberg Chapel in Sturgis, Mich.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, Mich., with Reverend Kurt Kuhlmann officiating.
Burial will be in Trayer Cemetery, rural Bronson, Mich.
