March the Mercantile Mile

Looking for a fun fitness idea? Hampered by winter weather? Everyone is invited to get off the couch, slip on their sneakers, and March the Mercantile Mile at the Davis Mercantile in Shipshewana from March 1 through March 29.

March the Mercantile Mile is a free indoor fitness opportunity geared to help people get active. Employees at Head Over Heels, located in the lower level of the Davis Mercantile, have mapped out a mile walk throughout the building.

As in the past, marchers check in at Head Over Heels to receive their marching instructions. Walkers can walk Monday through Friday from 9-5 each day. As an added incentive, marchers may qualify for a weekly giveaway just for participating. In addition, walkers may earn points over a four-week period in the month of March to be entered in a Grand Prize drawing to be held March 29.

New this year, join Laurie Sherck from 4-5 p.m. on Thursdays during the month of March for a video based study called “Made to Crave Action Plan – A Journey to Healthy Living.” You may have the “want to,” now discover the “how to.” This series will help put realistic everyday healthy choices into practice and will encourage others on their journey to healthy living. The videos are full of encouragement from Lysa Terkeurst, Christian author of the book Made to Crave, practical healthy living tips from Dr. Ski Chilton, PhD, and personal stories that will inspire.

Meetings will start March 1 and be held in the theater located on the third floor of the Davis Mercantile. There is no charge to attend these meetings. However, registration is requested by calling 768-7764.
