Marcella Sweeney

 

Marcella D. Sweeney, 93, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at St.  Anne Home and Retirement Community in Ft. Wayne. 

    Born in Ft. Wayne, she was a member of  St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church,  The Foresters, Daughters of Isabella  and past president of the Bishop Dwenger Mothers Club.  She was also a baker at Bishop Dwenger High School cafeteria and a driver for J J R.  

    Surviving are three sons, James (Linda) Sweeney, Ft. Wayne,  Joseph Sweeney, Lake James, and Jerome (Joni) Sweeney, Spencerville, Ind.; four daughters, Rose Mary (Thomas) Freeman, Ft. Wayne,  Suzanne Hageman, Laotto, Elizabeth A. (Richard) Sherman, Howe, and Sallie A. (Ron) Troyer, Topeka; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, George J Sweeney, one son, John Sweeney, one great-granddaughter, Haley, and one brother, John Pearson.

    Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home with Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church.

    Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Ft. Wayne.

    Memorials may be directed to Bishop Dwenger High School Athletic Department or St. Vincent Catholic School Athletic Department.
