Shortly after 8 p.m. on May 18, the LaGrange County Jail staff requested a county deputy in reference to a person who had turned himself in at the jail to serve time on a previous charge. Jail officers reported that the man appeared to be intoxicated.
Jail staff advised the deputies that Jeremy W. Kennedy, 41, of Wolcottville was also seen driving into the parking area of the jail and exiting the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
After officers interviewed Kennedy and watched video of the jail’s parking lot area, they determined that Kennedy was the driver of a 2000 Jeep Cherokee that was parked in front of the jail. Kennedy was offered field sobriety tests and a certified blood test. Kennedy reportedly complied with both, with the certified test showing 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Kennedy was arrested on an additional charge of OWI 0.15 percent or greater, a Class A Misdemeanor.
