Man shoplifts oil for vehicle

On June 27, an employee from the Dollar General Store in Shipshewana called the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department to report a theft.

According to the police report, a male subject had entered the store wearing a black leather coat. The male then left the store without buying anything. When he left, he was using his arms to hold his coat closed. The employee followed the subject into the parking lot, where he was putting oil into a red Saturn. The employee asked the subject if he had bought the oil. The subject finished putting the oil in his vehicle, got into the car, and fled the store at a high rate of speed. The license number of the vehicle was obtained and a positive identification of the driver was made.

Charges will be forwarded to the LaGrange County Prosecutor.
