Shortly after 9 p.m. on June 1, deputies from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence on CR 700N, just east of CR 675W in Scott, regarding a suspicious detail.
According to the police report, officers made contact with Lee Webb of Sturgis, Mich., who allegedly told officers that he had been riding in a gold Cadillac driven by someone named Joshua Webster, also of Sturgis, Mich. Webb stated that while he was riding in the vehicle, he decided he wanted to be dropped off after Webster allegedly told him about an incident that had taken place in Sturgis, Mich., prior to them driving into Indiana.
Webster allegedly refused to stop and drove erratically at a high rate of speed so Webb couldn’t get out of the vehicle. Webb told officers that when Webster slowed for the stop sign in Scott, he jumped out of the vehicle. The vehicle allegedly ran over Webb’s foot as it drove away.
Charges of criminal confinement against Webster are being filed with the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office.
Webb was later transported to Sturgis, Mich., to meet with officers from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department regarding the incident that had allegedly taken place in Michigan.
