The LaGrange County Major Moves Fund ordinance was amended in a joint session of the LaGrange County Council and Commissioners Wed. morning. The original ordinance called for maintaining a cash balance of not less than $27 million. That requirement was eliminated.
The original ordinance also called for any project that was to receive either Major Moves principal or interest to be presented and approved by the county commissioners, the county council and a joint session of the council and commissioners. A positive vote was necessary from the commissioners and council and a super majority (8 of 10) of the joint bodies.
The new ordinance, which passed unanimously, calls for only a positive recommendation of the Major Moves Committee and a super majority (8) of the joint body with two of those votes from the commissioners.
