Lukas Long of Lakeland brought home the 106-pound division championship from the 44th annual Goshen Invitational wrestling tournament held Saturday.
Long edged Scotty Huff of Goshen, 8-6 in the title bout. The Laker grappler advanced to the finals with a 19-4 techinical fall triumph over Tyce Johnson of Whitko.
Long’s teammate T.J. Thompson made it to the finals of the 132-pound bracket before falling to Fort Wayne North’s Kaleb Braun by a pin at 3:16. Thompson blanked Humberto Martinez of Bremen, 7-0 in the semifinals.
Tristyn Martz placed third in the 160-pound division for Lakeland thanks to a pin of Goshen’s John Trenshaw at 4:18 in the consolation round.
Also for the Lakers, Caleb Long (195 pounds), Jackson Evans (220) and Brock Bergman (285) all placed fourth in their weight groups, while Cory Niece (113) and Tristin Kohlhiem (182) finished fifth.
Goshen took the team championship with a score of 263.5 points. Lakeland placed sixth overall with 153.5.
