Lowell H. Kimpel, 97, Angola died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
He was born August 10, 1915, in Defiance County, Ohio, to Oscar and Vera Myrtle (Frey) Kimpel.
Living in Angola for 25 years, coming from Pleasant Lake, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corp Camp in Idaho in the 1930s. He worked at Newnam Foundry in Kendallville for 18 years and retired from Weatherhead in Angola.
He was married October 23, 1937, in Garrett, to Kathleen J. “Kathy” Robbins. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2002.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Carl Root, Kendallville, Deborah and James Kaough, Wolcottville, and Carolyn and Ricky Moore, Kendallville; four sons and three daughters-in-law, James Kimpel, LaGrange, John and Wendy Kimpel, Warsaw, David and Diane Kimpel, LaGrange, and Larry and Rosita Kimpel, Orlando, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Mary Kimpel, LaGrange; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Kimpel, one son, Robert Kimpel, one brother, LaVon Kimpel, and a daughter-in-law, Judy Kimpel.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 29, at Young Family Funeral Home Kendallville Chapel.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, November 30, at Young Family Funeral Home Kendallville Chapel with Pastor Mervin Miller officiating.
Burial will be in South Milford Cemetery.
