LMS student receives regional science award

The 2013 Tri-State Regional Science Fair was held on March 16 in Angola.  Besides the regular placings in the elementary, junior and senior divisions of the fair, participating students also had the opportunity to compete for special awards.

Conservation awards are given to students whose projects recognize the importance of conservation and stewardship of natural resources such as soil, air, water and energy.  The junior division winner was Kyle Coalson of Lakeland Middle School, whose project Suck It Up! looked at ways of conserving water for crops by adding hydrogels to the soil.

Conservation award winners receive a certificate of achievement and a cash prize. Conservation awards at the Trine event are sponsored by the soil and water conservation districts in DeKalb, LaGrange and Steuben counties.
