LifeCare Centerof LaGrange's Operation Christmas Child campaign collected 463 shoeboxes, exceeding their goal of 180. They also received $826 in donations to help pay for shipping costs. Donations came from schools, churches, organizations and individuals from all over the county.
Barry Melton of Cleveland, Tenn., Bob Richthammer and Dick Nemeth of South Bend, Ind., and Mike Fletcher and Larry Hartzler of Burr Oak Church in Ligonier, Ind., assisted in loading a cargo trailer with all 463 shoeboxes at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
Operation Christmas Child provides shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, clothing and personal hygiene items for boys and girls in war-torn countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo, as well as poverty-stricken countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua and South Africa.
