Local seniors are invited to a Senior Hawaiian Lunch at Life Care Center of LaGrange on Friday, May 16, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The meal will be grill-style, with hamburgers, hot dogs and traditional sides. Attendees are also invited to wear their favorite appropriate Hawaiian attire.

The lunch will be free with the donation of a non-perishable food item. All donations will go to the LaGrange County Council on Aging.

The Hawaiian lunch is just part of the activities Life Care Center of LaGrange has scheduled for National Nursing Home Week, which begins on Mother’s Day and runs through May 17.

The facility is also hosting Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography throughout the day on May 16. Ladies can call (260) 483-1847 or (800) 737-8439 to schedule an appointment.

“It is so wonderful that we are able to help the community and our residents,” said Jeff Brinkman, executive director.

The facility has other special events planned for National Nursing Home Week just for its residents. For more details, please call (260) 463-7445.

Sponsored by the American Health Care Association, National Nursing Home Week is dedicated to increasing awareness of skilled nursing and rehab centers and the role these facilities play in providing an environment of security and quality of life. This year, the theme is Living the Aloha Spirit.

Life Care Center of LaGrange, located at 0770 North, 75 East, is one of 15 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Indiana operated or managed by Life Care Centers of America.
