Library closings

On Monday, September 3, LaGrange County Public Library will be closed due to Labor Day.

Etsy Craft Saturdays

Do you love the kind of quirky, stylish, handmade crafts you see on Etsy.com? Would you like to learn how to make your own? Then check out our Saturday craft classes. Please register at the LaGrange County Public Library Reference desk. Some classes may require a small donation to cover the cost of materials.

Dreamcatcher making class will be on Saturday, September 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the LaGrange County Public Library. You must register by August 24 and the cost is $2.00.

Fun fringed necklace making class will be held at the LaGrange County Public Library on Saturday, September 29, at 10:00 a.m. You must register by September 21 and the cost is $4.00.

Genealogy Assistance

Volunteers from the LaGrange County Genealogical Society are available in the Genealogy Department on the first Wednesday of each month to help the public with family history questions and challenges. This will take place at the LaGrange County Public Library from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Computer class: Introduction to the internet for seniors

Even if you’ve never used a computer before, you can learn how to use the internet in this simple, relaxed class for seniors (55+). We’ll cover everything from pointing and clicking, to how to use Google. Please register at the LaGrange County Public Library Reference desk or by calling 260-463-2841 x1030. We will only be teaching basic skills in this class, email and photo editing will not be covered. This class will be taking place at the LaGrange County public Library on Thursday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is required.

How to read aloud

Do you read to children or the visually impaired? Children’s librarian Mary Miller will share her insights on how to spice up your reading with interaction, props, and “special effects.” This fun and interactive program is geared especially toward parents, teachers, and others who work with small children. This class will be held at the LaGrange County Public Library on Thursday,  September 20, at 6:00 p.m.

Second Saturday book club

The book club us open to any adult (16+) who wishes to attend, please come join us. This event is taking place at the LaGrange County Public Library on Saturday, September 8, at 11:00 a.m. The book being discussed this month is “I, Claudius” by Robert Graves. 

 

Tuesdays with Professor Snoozy and Friends

Starting school can be emotional. Take time to enjoy these good stories about feelings with your preschooler or young child. Our puppets will do their best to make you laugh. This event is on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the LaGrange County Public Library. There will be no story time on September 4.

Book Fest 2012

You’re invited to our 2nd annual book fest, a free event for families with activities appropriate for children 0-12 years. Come join us for crafts, games, snacks, door prizes, and every family goes home with a free book. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The book fest is taking place at the LaGrange County Public Library on Thursday, September, 27 at 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Movie of the Month

Come to our encore showing of this Dr. Seuss classic. It’s sure to entertain the whole family. We provide the popcorn. The movie playing is “The Lorax.” The movie will be showing at the LaGrange County Public library on Friday, September 14, at 6:00 p.m.

Prickly’s story time

Children love good stories. Your child will love story time with librarian, Janice Bruce and the Topeka Branch hedgehog, Prickly. There will fun crafts too. Story time will be at the Topeka Branch Library on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.
Family movie night

Bring your family to the library for a fun, free night at the movies. We provide the popcorn. Family movie night will be on Friday, September 7, at 6:00 p.m. at Topeka Branch Library.
