Holidayclosing…

All branches of the library will be closed on Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day.

Computer class…

On Saturday, May 5, the library will be holding a free computer class introducing absolute beginners to Windows 7. The class will be held from 2-4 p.m. and registration is required due to limited space. To register, stop in at the LaGrange Library or call 260-463-2841 ext. 1030.

Cooking with herbs…

The LaGrange County Public Library will be holding a class to teach how to cut down salt intake without eating bland food. Beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, Ann Fremion from Purdue Extension will present a class on cooking with herbs. Come find out just how delicious healthy eating can be.

iPad discussion group…

The LaGrange County Library will be hosting an iPad discussion group discussion from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26. iPad owners are invited to come discuss their experiences, recommend favorite apps, ask for help with confusing things, and share knowledge with newbies. Participants should bring their iPad to the discussion.

Sci-fi Book Club…

The Sci-Fi Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 7, at the LaGrange Library to discuss Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.

Aliens have attacked Earth twice and almost destroyed the human species. To make sure humans win the next encounter, the world government has taken to breeding geniuses – and then sending them to battle school. Andrew “Ender” Wiggin is a genius among geniuses; he wins all the games. He is smart enough to know that time is running out, but is he smart enough to save the planet?

Second Saturday Book Club…

The Second Saturday Book Club will meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at the LaGrange Library to discuss Cleopatra: A Life by Stacy Schiff. For those who think they know enough about Cleopatra or have the enigmatic Egyptian queen all figured out, think again.

Tuesdays are Snooze days…

The library is getting ready for the summer reading program, but preschool-age kids can still enjoy a good story and activities with Professor Snoozy and his friends every Tuesday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Summer reading program…

The Summer 2012 Reading Club is coming June 4. Participants can win prizes and attend fun programs. Summer reading is for all ages and reading levels.

Movie of the month…

“Born to be Wild” will be shown at 6 p.m. on Friday May 11, at the LaGrange Library. This movie is rated G and will not be the 3D version. The library will be providing the popcorn and attendees are welcome to bring a drink in a covered container. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m.

 

 

 

Prickly’s Story Time…

Prickly would love to have company for Story Time every Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Topeka Library. Come enjoy stories and activities designed for preschool-age children.

Family Movie Night…

The Topeka Branch Library will show “The Adventures of Tintin” at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 4. The library will provide the popcorn. Attendees may bring a drink in a covered container.
