Library board considering new meeting day

The LaGrange County Library Board discussed moving its monthly meetings back a day to the third Thursdays of each month.

The request was made due to a change in a board member’s schedule that would not allow them to attend Wednesday meetings any more.

The board decided that, upon review with two other members absent Wednesday, that they could begin meeting on the third Thursday starting in June.

The June meeting is scheduled to be held on the 13th, in Topeka, but would move to the 14th if the remaining board members consent.

In other business:

The board formalized a reciprocal borrowing agreement with the Middlebury Library. LaGrange County Library patrons may go to Middlebury and request a library card from them, as well as Middlebury patrons requesting a LaGrange County Library card.

The board tabled action on a HVAC preventive maintenance contract. The low quote for maintenance of all of the equipment at the main library was from Pranger Mechanical for $9,000 per year. The board asked for a further break out of the costs for each of the service provided. The contract would cover filter replacement, belt checks, lubrication, inspection of the systems and other work on the heating and cooling systems throughout the year.

It was announced that the new bookmobile will be at the LaGrange County 4-H Fair every evening starting around 4 p.m.
