Levi Bontrager

Levi W. Bontrager, 88, Shipshewana, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his residence.

    He was born November 12, 1926, in LaGrange County, to William L. and Mattie (Yoder) Bontrager.

    He was a farmer and member of the Old Order Amish Church.

    He was married January 20, 1948 to Ruby Ellen Miller. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2006.

    Surviving are four daughters, Fannie (Joe) Bontrager, Burr Oak, Mich., Edna (Henry) Miller, Cisne, Ill., Rosanna (Gerald) Hochstetler, Markesan, Wisc., and Mattie (LaVern) Yoder, LaGrange; seven sons, William (Annabelle) Bontrager, Middlebury, Amos (Elsie) Bontrager, Shipshewana, Abe (Lydia Mae) Bontrager, LaGrange, Willis (Linda) Bontrager, Syracuse, Ind., Ezra (Wilma) Bontrager, Shipshewana, Vernon (Ella Mae) Bontrager, Shipshewana, and John (Ruby) Bontrager, LaGrange; two daughters-in-law, Mary Ann Bontrager, LaGrange, and Mary Lou (Mark) Smith, Shipshewana; 75 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 103 great-grandchildren; many stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Ezra (Clara) Bontrager, Wolcottville, and Abe (Anna) Bontrager, Dalton, Wisc.; and three sisters, Millie Stutzman, Augusta, Wisc., Emma Schmucker, Cambria, Wisc., and Mattie (Chris) Graber, Seymour, Mo.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Perry and Levi Bontrager, three brothers, Amos, an infant brother, and Milo Bontrager, and seven sisters, Mary Schrock, Ida Bontrager, Ella Yoder, Polly Schrock, Susie Lambright, Sarah Bontrager, Lydia Bontrager.

    Visitation is all day Thursday, May 7, at the family residence, 8820W 050N in Shipshewana.

    Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, at the family residence, 8820W 050N in Shipshewana, with Bishop Monroe Yoder and home ministers officiating.

    Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Shipshewana.
