Lester J. Miller, 86, Howe, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
He was born November 7, 1925, in Goshen, to Jacob J.C. and Ada C. (Miller) Miller.
Living all his life in LaGrange and Elkhart counties, he was a prison chaplain and former co-owner of Rock of Ages Book Store in LaGrange. He was a member of Marion Mennonite Church in rural Shipshewana, LaGrange County Chaplains Ministry, and worked with prison fellowship.
He was married June 28, 1947, in Middlebury, to Josephine Graber. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1965. He was married March 19, 1966, in Plato, to Mary E. Shrock. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Emily E. Neice, Shipshewana; one son and daughter-in-law, Eugene D. and Sharon Miller, Millersburg; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Chris J. Miller, Goshen.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elsie Marie Miller, five sisters, and three brothers.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 26, and 2-8 p.m. Friday, January 27, at Marion Mennonite Church in Shipshewana.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 28, at Shore Mennonite Church inShipshewana with Pastor Ron Roth and Pastor Char Roth officiating.
Burial will be in Clinton Union Cemetery, Goshen.
