The LaGrange Communities Youth Centers (LCYC) will be hosting its 6th Annual Disc Golf Tournament on Aug. 3. The event will be held on the highly ranked 18-basket course located in Delt Church Park.
The tournament will be a two-person team scramble. There will three divisions, including novice, intermediate and advanced. Even teams who have never played before can participate in the novice division. Trophies and t-shirts will be awarded to the top two teams in each division. Door prizes will also be awarded.
There is an entry fee per team. Registration for the event will begin at 9 a.m. with the tournament kicking off at 10 a.m. Teams can pre-register by calling the LCYC office at (260) 463-0334.
The course, built by Lakeland High School science teacher Randy Baumgartner, is one of the premier courses in the area. Disc golf enthusiasts from around the state have visited this beautiful course.
LCYC, in conjunction with the LaGrange County Community Foundation, the LaGrange County Parks Department, and private donors financed the construction of the course. The course is free to all park visitors and is open for play during regular park hours. LCYC hopes that as the appeal of this new, family friendly sport grows, the course will become a popular attraction for LaGrange County.
The tournament is being sponsored by LCYC and all proceeds will go to the non-profit organization which serves the youth of LaGrange County. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the impressive course.
