Earth is being moved around as the LaGrange Communities Youth Center (LCYC) begins to work on Spreuer Park. The park, located on the north side of LaGrange on Old SR 9, is being cleared and leveled this week.
LCYC Executive Director Michelle Myers said that the current work is to excavate and level the area and beginning seeding for this fall to make it look more like a park.
A nature trail is also in the works for the perimeter of the park. Myers said the group hopes to have that done and usable by next spring.
Meanwhile, LCYC continues to work on getting funding for an activity center at the location and is still working with the LaGrange County Council on Aging on plans for the facility. Myers said LCYC hopes to have the building in place within the next two years, but are working to make it happen sooner, if possible.
Also planned are additional recreational facilities at the site.
Currently, LCYC is planning its Taste of LaGrange. This event, planned for Saturday, Oct. 19, will feature a host of vendors from around the county, all of whom will have a variety of food to taste. They will also hold a silent auction. The event will be held at the LaGrange County 4-H Fairgrounds Community Building, with tickets available through the LCYC office.
