LCCF and UFLC announce community challenge

The LaGrange County Community Foundation (LCCF) and United Fund of LaGrange County (UFLC) are pleased to announce that they are partnering together this holiday season with community donors in a very special campaign to help feed hungry families through our local food pantries.

Thanks to generous gifts from the Olive B. Cole Foundation and Farmers State Bank, the LCCF and UFLC 2012 “We Give Thanks” Community Challenge will offer a dollar-for-dollar match for every dollar community donors contribute to the effort up to a total of $10,000. In addition, LCCF and UFLC have also announced that if the community donation target of $10,000 is met or exceeded, an additional $5,000 capstone will be added to the total funding that will be distributed to local pantries. The campaign will run from Thanksgiving week through the Christmas holiday. With oversight from the Community Foundation and United Fund Boards, final distribution from the campaign will be made to pantries in January

Last year, the very first “We Give Thanks” effort initiated by the Community Foundation resulted in $20,510 being awarded to five food distribution organizations. Those included the Clothes and Food Basket in LaGrange, the Lima-Scott Food Pantry at the Scott United Methodist Church, the Topeka Ministerial Association’s Christ’s Community Cupboard, Community Harvest’s Lagrange County Farm Wagon distributions at Town Park and the Church of Christ in LaGrange, and the LaGrange County Council on Aging’s Senior Mart and Senior Pak programs. This year’s distributions could easily exceed $25,000.

Join with the Community Foundation and United Fund Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers along with our funding partners at the Olive B. Cole Foundation and Farmers State Bank in this county-wide holiday effort as “We Give Thanks” by sharing our many blessing with those in need. Please make your donation checks out today to the LaGrange County Community Foundation. Include the words, “Good Samaritan Fund” on the memo line.
