Larry L. Timmis, 81, LaGrange, died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
He was born June 16, 1932, in LaGrange, to Harry M. and Hazel (Routsong) Timmis.
Living all his life in LaGrange County, he and his father owned and operated the former Timmis and Son Motor Sales Ford Dealership in LaGrange. He worked in purchasing at Sealed Power Corp. in LaGrange from 1963 until his retirement in 1988. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He attended Brighton Chapel in rural Howe, was a member of LaGrange American Legion Post 215, and a former member of the Lakeland School Board.
He was married February 15, 1956, in Howe, to Shirley E. Lantz. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1989. He was married October 14, 1989, in Elkhart, to Nancy (Oswalt) Liechty. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Scott L. Timmis, LaGrange, Steven M. Timmis, LaGrange, and Tim E. (Ingrid) Timmis, League City, Texas; three grandchildren, Heather Timmis, Houston, Texas, Benjamin J. Timmis, Evansville, Ind., and Patrick S. Timmis, Evansville, Ind.; four stepsons, Stephen (Mary Ann) Liechty, LaGrange, Michael J. Liechty, Sarasota, Fla., J. David Liechty, Chicago, Ill., and Philip A. Liechty, Churubusco, Ind.; and four stepgrandchildren.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 1, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2, at Frurip-May Funeral Home in LaGrange with Pastor Rustin Krapfl officiating.
Burial with military rites by LaGrange American Legion Post 215 will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
Memorials may be directed to Brighton Chapel.
